On her 18th birthday, she was told she’d be dead by her 21st birthday due to aggressive Rheumatoid Arthritis. It’s been a steadily increasing list of diagnoses ever since RA, OA, DDD, DJD, COPD, PTSD, CRPS, Lupus, Gout, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, more herniated discs than is supposed to be possible. All of which have led to 17 Major surgeries. She has said “I used to be very active, home, work, volunteerism and play.” In the last several years that has had to change, as her diseases steadily got worse. This meant no work, no insurance, no savings. She was left feeling very hopeless. She tolerated it, what else could she do. She refused to allow herself to sink into the morass she was once in, the depression, anxiety, suicide attempts are in her distant past and there they will remain. With no insurance and little money, doctors were not realistic. She tolerated her life, always hoping for better. She tried so many things over the years, all failures. Enter her youngest daughter into the picture. She has had serious back issues for quite some time, courtesy of our strong genes. As a mom, she made up her mind to find something, anything, that would improve her quality of life. She started hearing about this “stuff” called Kratom. Robin got some to try. She also researched, relentlessly!! Not just FB, but online and every source she could find. She joined SO MANY groups. She read, she listened, she tried it. Her first try was an amazing success! She started telling her daughter., “you have to try this.” Her daughter was even more skeptical, but did try, it also was a success. Robin had looked for her daughter’s relief, she had found her own salvation. Words do not do justice to how amazingly grateful she is to this miraculous plant and so many others. It allows her to function, to LIVE! She knows she will never be back to what she once was. There is simply too much damage to this 64 yr old body, but she is very happy with the new normal that is shown to her daily.

Her Grass Roots Journey

Shortly after finding kratom, she found the American Kratom Association and joined to learn as much as she could. She, along with an amazing core of dedicated volunteers built a strong social media platform on FB. She then was asked to join the AKAs board as the 5th member of the Board of Directors. She, along with so many others helped keep this plant legal, kept grassroots advocacy alive, flourishing and helped keep the fight alive. After leaving the AKA, she and several others started this endeavor, because we all saw the grassroots effort dwindling and saw ever more botanicals being threatened.

That is why she will continue to fight for Our right to consume and Keep Legal, not only kratom but a multitude of other natural botanicals that she has learned about along the way. Natural botanicals should always be available for adults to consume and use.

Robin has had many careers throughout her life, from high profile security to an after market HD shop… but from her first volunteering position with the local Veterans hospital, to her dedication to Disaster Aid volunteering, her true passion of grassroots advocacy for kratom has driven her desire and love for volunteering and advocacy.
