Dijon’s life has been a relentless battle against pain, marked by numerous surgeries, complications, and the constant struggle of a body in distress. At just 16, a severe injury sustained while trying to save a young boy in a pool was tragically mishandled when a cast was applied too tightly. The doctor refused to remove it for four agonizing days, leading to devastating diagnoses: full-body Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), neuralgia, and multiple organ failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These new health crises compounded lifelong challenges. Earlier in life, complications from osteomyelitis and pulmonary embolisms had resulted in the loss of a limb. After that first amputation, life briefly looked brighter. She excelled in college and was accepted into medical school, but her condition worsened, forcing a medical leave of absence during her third year. The inability to return was a devastating blow to her aspirations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
