LA County, Board of Supervisors
UPDATE TO COME
The following information was shared by GKC (Global Kratom Collation)
The Staff for the Board of Supervisors is considering a motion on kratom and 7-OH that could set the stage for a countywide ban if it isn’t properly focused.

These staff are top of the line. Harvard graduates, MDs, significant experience in Congress/Federal service, etc. Because of this, we need voices such as yours to help them understand the difference between kratom and 7-OH.

We need folks to submit public comments by January 21, urging the County to focus on concentrated, synthetic 7-OH. Additionally, if they’re able to offer virtual/in-person testimony on 1/21, that would be great!

Details for the 1/21 meeting are below. I’m happy to help in any way I can.
DATE: January 21, 2026
TIME: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
MEETING CHAIR: Jazmine Garcia-Delgadillo, 1ST Supervisorial District

You do not need the app to you. You can join directly through a supported web browser on a computer or laptop.

Joining Without the App

When you click a Teams meeting link, you will see three options. Choose “Continue on this browser” to join without installing any software.

  • Requirements: You must use a compatible browser such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. Support for Safari and Firefox may be limited for some features.
  • Account: You do not need a Microsoft account to join as a guest, though the meeting organizer must have “guest access” enabled for their organization.
  • Permissions: You will need to allow your browser to access your microphone and camera when prompted.

Mobile Device Limitations

If you are joining from a smartphone or tablet, the web browser version is generally not supported for meetings.

  • App Required: On mobile, you typically must download the Teams mobile app from the App Store or Google Play Store to join.
  • Guest Access: You can still join as a guest on the mobile app without signing into or creating an account.

Browser vs. App Differences

While the web version works for most needs, it has some limitations compared to the downloaded app:

Performance: The desktop app generally offers more stable audio and video quality for large meetings.

Advanced Features: Some features like breakout rooms (creating them), virtual backgrounds (depending on the browser), and high-quality background blur may be limited or unavailable on the web.

In-person participation is strongly recommended and preferred. However, they will allow you to submit public comments in the following ways:

Written Public Comments via eComment

Members of the public can submit their written comments electronically for City Council consideration. Use the eComments feature on the Agenda page of the City’s website at https://shorturl.at/NHw2Q. Click onpage 4, scroll to (currently listed) item 10.2. There it will allow you to put your comment. To ensure distribution to the City Council prior to consideration of the agenda, we strongly encourage the public to submit written comments by 3:00 p.m. the day before the meeting. All written comments will be provided to the Council for consideration and posted on the City’s website after the meeting.

Public Comments via recorded voicemail message

Also, the public can record their comments by calling (714) 744-2234 no later than 12:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. These recorded messages will not be played at the meeting, but will be provided to the Council.
